Melbury House Rest Home

Melbury House was established in 1985; and is registered with Durham County Council as a Residential Care Home. Since opening; the home has been under the personal management of the owners; who have extensive experience in caring for the elderly.

Melbury house is situated in enclosed and secluded grounds. Which are greatly enhanced by extensive gardens and sheltered patio areas; providing a high degree of privacy and a peaceful atmosphere for residents. There are churches; shops and a post office in close proximity; and we are on a direct bus route to Seaham town centre.

The home has two lounges and a spacious dining room is on the ground floor; where meals are served. Home cooking of a very high standard; using local fresh produce; is provided. Daily menus are varied and are designed taking into account the dietary needs of the residents.

Every effort is made to ensure the physical well being of our residents; but the real pride of Melbury House is the quality of care and attention provided by our staff. The high ratio of staff to residents enables members of our staff to spend extra time with each resident to encourage their fullest possible independence and dignity. We will endeavour to care for any resident through an illness provided that the appropriate treatment and care can be administered in a residential environment.

Hobbies and pastimes are encouraged and there are parties for residents at various times during the summer and also Christmas; to which residents may invite relatives and friends.
